BrickSlopes 2016 Shirt

This year I was asked to design the shirt for BrickSlopes 2016 (A Lego fan convention here in Utah) and this is what I came up with. It was a lot of fun taking my kids to it, and a lot of fun seeing people wearing my design!

Drop the beat!

When your cousin asks you to design a wedding invite based on Flight of the Conchords, you don't argue. Not one bit.

Sidekix!

Sidekix toys are awesome, you can flip them inside out, clip them to things, use their magnetic paws to hang them just about anywhere. I designed these 4 toys from their current line, and have several others that I've designed in development.

ORCA MD Apps

Here's a preview of the work I did on some Orca MD iOS apps.

I did all the 3D modeling/shading work on the following apps:

I'm a pilot . . .

I had the great opportunity to do some contract work with Rain, helping them with some 3D work on their first game, Hess Jet!

I did all the 3D work (modeling, shading, lighting) on the 3 levels (desert, snow, island). I'd put up more screenshots, but it's free to play on Facebook and on iPhone/iPad. Go check it out!

Updated Demo Reel

So now that Toy Story 3 is out, I was finally (and legally) able to update my demo reel with work I did on the game while at Avalanche Studios earlier this year. Enjoy!

Eenie Meanie

My grandpa Walton originally made this ceramic mask, known to us grandkids as "Eenie Meanie." I took a bunch of reference and recreated it in Maya as a tribute to him.

Disney Princess

The theme right now on the Avalanche Art Blog is "Disney Princesses." This was my take on it.

It's been a while . . .

So, it's been forever since I've updated this thing. Right now I have an internship at Disney Interactive Studios up in SLC, and so nothing I make there can be put up on the web until the game's finished, which is a bummer. So this morning I found out we have figure drawing sessions every Friday and decided to join in.

Wow, it's been forever since I've drawn anything . . .

Head model progress...

Well, according to my sister, these are "very scary." I apologize in advance.

Remind me never to shave my head or go bald. I have a very weird shaped head.

Land Cruiser

So I'm just about done with the Land Cruiser model for our upcoming short film (although the more I work on it, the more details I want to add!) So here are a few screen grabs thus far. I still need to finish the undercarriage and add a rollbar.

More stuff!

Here's some of the work from the class I took this last semester from Sam's class. I learned a ton about color, value and saturation (among tons of other things). So here are some projects we did, I'd like to still come back and clean them up some day . . .

Aw, bucket!

So, I'm taking my first stab at a RenderMan shader for our new movie. We had a big push tonight; we took models that had already been done and put shaders on them. My good friend Carson helped me out a ton on this one.

X-ing Concept Art

So our movie (now titled "X-ing") needed some concept art. I don't consider myself quite a concept artist per se, but here's my attempt:

Sir Brian Kohrman suggested I "tone down" the blown out lights, aand make a few other changes:

Space Pooch

Disclaimer: I did NOT do the original drawing for this painting, Jessica Borutski did. Giving credit where credit is due!

So this semester, I'm taking a digital painting class from Sam Nielson, and it's awesome. He's awesome, have you seen his blog? He makes it look so easy . . . The first project he had us do was to pick one of a few line drawings he had from some very talented artists and render it out in 3D, and then mess with the color/saturation. I would like to come back to this later, but this is what I have right now.
